So besides working on Jennifer and Matt’s wedding this Saturday this weekend was also an important day around the house for us, it was the first birthday of Porthos.
Yup the little guy turned 1 this weekend so we packed him up and took him to one of his favorite places, Petsmart to looks at new toys and get a little treat.
Of course for a sniffer one of the best parts of going to Petsmart is sniffing the sidewalk leading up to the entrance.
Once in the store we usually bring Porthos up to ride in the cart, we do this for a few reasons.
One, not everyone elses dog is well behaved when meeting new dogs. Two, not everyone elses kids are well behaved when meeting new dogs.
Either way sometimes it gets intimidating for a little guy so riding in the cart just makes sure everyone has a good experience all around.
So a new ball was the toy for the day, some special dinner and some new treats (banana and chicken, banana chip with a wrap of chicken jerky, I equally curious and disgusted at the same time).
Although the day was not without is tough moments as well. Thinking about him growing older, even if it’s just his first birthday, brought back some painful memories of our last dog, Luna, who passed away about a year and a half ago at the age of 10.
There’s nothing in this world that is forever, except the love itself and the memories.
To Porthos, a happy birthday and may there be many, many more.
To Luna, we love and miss you.
And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.
