A while back I mentioned some of my off season projects and thought I’d expand a bit on a few of them. The first is the infrared shooting I’ve been doing in studio.
The camera is my old backup camera that has been modified to shoot full time infrared. Normally I use this strictly in B&W mode for those amazing infrared scenic and wide angle venue shots I like to do at weddings. Through a lot of experimentation what I found is that with a few tweaks to the lights, some tweaks to the cameras custom white balance, etc, etc, etc, I get an amazing blue toned infrared image.
These shots take a bit – the camera has to be manually focused for the range I’m shooting in – locked down and then manually refocused each time the distance changes – so it’s not ideal for fast subjects.
