Long Live Film

Here’s a great documentary on film photography from Kodak and one of my favorite film labs, Indie Film Lab.

One thing that struck me is about the 22:00 minute mark a photographer is talking about being at a fireworks show and how he found himself surrounded by people trying to capture it on their smartphones, tweet updates, update their Facebook etc, with pretty much crappy cell phone photos instead of just being in the moment and watching the show.   It seems weddings have a lot in common with fireworks displays these days – most guests are trying to be the first one to post an image of the bride in her dress on Facebook, or capture their cell phone photo of the ring exchange, instead of just sitting back and being present during the ceremony.
