I love smores – both eating them and in this case photographing the making of them by guests at a Dunafon Castle wedding.  Seriously – for your average wedding guest how cool has the memory of making smores at a castle have to be.  I think I tell from a few of the faces around the fire it’s going to be a memorable one for them.

On this shot of the bride and groom taking a moment to walk around the lake up at Dunafon Castle a quick call out to them got them to turn to grab a shot of their faces without turning it into an overtly posed image.  I really like both the deep greens of this shot along withe the soft reflection in the water that is blurred by the effects of a light rain as well.

There’s just something wonderfully charming about young children dressed formally for a wedding.   Here the pair of young ring bearers come through the side isle before turning to head to the ceremony site.  The way the boys are holding hands, the confident smile of the older boy and the slightly hesitating or unsure look on the younger boy’s face tells it’s own story of the the day.

When covering a church wedding I must admit I really prefer church’s that have some sort of end isle that I can walk down the side of the church.  I love getting these type of family reaction shots yet at the same time it’s important for me to be out of the way for the family and guests as they watch the ceremony.

For this first Friday Favorite of the year I thought I do something unusual (at least for me) and select a color image.  I think my love of B&W photography sometimes has an effect in unbalancing my selections for Friday Favorites.

While flasks with some soul warming liquid is a common enough site on many wedding days – I love catching the groom filling up three flasks at once for his groomsman.  The few drops spilled catch the light and show up starkly against the groomsman’s dark slacks in the background adds that sense of movement to the photo to help show what is going on.

The main reason I decided to keep this image as a color image is because I love the amber brown color of the bottle – that too in this case helps tell the story.
