Now I’ll admit most of the time I don’t put a lot of stock in these things – I’ve received awards from some wedding sites for having just a single positive review, and of course if you’re sucker enough to pay for advertising on some of these sites (cough cough the knot cough cough) your almost guaranteed to get some kind of web badge/award.

I rather like this one though since it shows that a wide variety of various wedding sites, blogs, and magazines liked the work I submitted well enough to print it.

Of course not a lot of credit for that goes to me, most of it goes to my clients, their wedding planners, and the amazing wedding vendors they used to create their wedding – all I did was document what everyone else did.

The camera was a Holga which is often called a “toy camera”  It has almost no controls (you can barely focus it), very simple construction and often produces images that show blur, light leaks and many other distortions.   Despite all the drawbacks there’s something – wonderful about it.  While film in general has a much more organic feel to it – the difference between digital and analog isn’t always easy to pin down into words, it’s more how it feels to the viewer.  To me film feels organic.

Holga’s take this the the Nth degree.

Film for the day was Ilford Delta 3200 Pro 120 (which I pulled and rated at 1600 – photographer geeks know what I just said – to everyone else BLAH BLAH, BLAH BLAH de BLAH BLAH).   These where taken just after dusk – I had to wait for it to get dark enough otherwise that speed film would have just blown out.

Rachel and Tyler’s wedding next month will be our first Dunafon wedding of the 2012 season and I’d be lying if I said I was anything but widely excited.  It’s also going to be my first wedding working with Julie of Classic Creations Wedding Planning and Design.

I had my X100 with me today so here’s a few snaps from around the property up at the castle as of this morning.    Be sure to check back tomorrow as Friday Favorites takes a walk on the FILM side of life with a few shots from Dunafon during the last “Taste of Dunafon” with some high speed film in a Holga camera.

All sessions revolve around the boudoir book, a special art book printed on fine art paper, similar to my custom art books and engagement signature books.

Session can either be in studio or several area hotels can be recommended for that more romantic feel.   I usually suggest finding a friend or two who might also be interested and schedule your sessions together.

Sessions start at $400 and include the album.

Of course for the client who might not be 100% comfortable with a male photographer I do have a small referral list of female photographers whose specialty is this style of photography.
